The Golden Bauhinia Square marks the most significant occasion in Hong Kong's history - the return of the former British colony to the People's Republic of China (PRC), and the establishment of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.  The "Forever Blooming Bauhinia" Sculpture is a gift from the people of the PRC to mark the widespread joy of the Chinese at the return of the territory to the Motherland after more than 100 years. Near the Golden Bauhinia stands the Reunification Monument bearing inscriptions of President Jiang Zemin's calligraphy.

At 8:00am, daily Flag Raising Ceremony will be performed at the Golden Bauhinia Square, usually by five uniformed Hong Kong police officers in regular attire and include the playing of the national anthem.

With the arrangement of the Home Affairs Bureau, this flag-raising ceremony will be conducted by different Uniform Groups on the second Sunday of each month and The Hong Kong Girl Guides will be responsible for the ceremony on 10 March 2019.  We will select members (including Girl Guides, Ranger Guides and Guider) to perform the ceremony, and the 4 Regions will also organize squads to participate.

As part of the Guiding family, we would like to invite you, your families and friends to take part in the ceremony that day.  Please come in uniform with hat and be there before 7:30am.
