Subject: Support Hong Kong Police Force's “Project SILVERSHIELD” Anti-Scam Initiative
Dear Members,
In recent years, the number of crime cases in Hong Kong has been on the rise, especially for the deception cases. In 2022, the number of deception cases increased 45.1% to 27,923 cases, with HKD 4.8 billion swindled. which is equivalent to one deception case every 20 minutes. In order to protect citizens from scams, the Hong Kong Police Force has launched the “Project SILVERSHIELD”, which aims to promote anti-scam knowledge to the public (in particular to the aged group) through the efforts of various sectors of society and to protect them from fraud.
In order to more effectively promote this program, the Police has approached the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association for collaboration on the recruitment and training of determined and aspiring members in disseminating anti-scam messages to the public. We believe that this is a great opportunity for our members to play their roles in the community, to help citizens identify and prevent various scams, and to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.
In summary, we call on all members to actively participate in the Project SILVERSHIELD. Please pay close attention to our upcoming notices regarding the program and stay up-to-date with the latest anti-scam information to help our community in daily life.
