Activity: Gifts for mothers/fathers

Age Group

Guides Section – 10-14 years old

Time needed

30 minutes

Learning Goal

Members express their gratefulness to their parents through making a small gift.

Game 1: Tissue flowers for mothers

  1. Cut eight sheets of tissue papers in flower shape. Staple together the stack of flower at the centre.
  2. Scrunch up the first flower layer to the center. Repeat with each layer and then fluff back out to form flower.

Game 2: Photo puzzles for fathers

  1. For each puzzle, lay out a series of 16 popsicle sticks so that the sticks are touching. To prevent shifting/sliding, you could place a piece of scotch tape across the sticks.
  2. Put a family photo over the top and stick together with the popsicle sticks. Then, apply the top with a light coat and let dry.
  1. Write down “Happy Father's Day” at the back, but write “FATHER” vertically. Write down the characteristics of fathers by using the first letter of each word, see example below:
  • Friendly
  • Amazing
  • Terrific
  • Heroic
  • Everlasting
  • Righteous
  • 'S
  • DAY
  1. Use a cutter to cut in between each popsicle stick.
