|
Which elements of the method are used, and how? |
☑ Learning in small groups – Members learn alternative ways of helping people from other members during sharing. They are proud of themselves for the goodness of helping people.
☑ My path, my pace – Members can use different ways to care about people. For example, making small gifts, helping mum to do housework, teaching classmates on homework. They can fully utilize their abilities.
☑ Learning by doing – The activity train members to contribute actively. During the process of recording and sharing the good works they do, members can feel the joy of helping others and review how to do better next time.
☑Connecting with others – The serving targets do not limit to family members, teachers, classmates and members in the same team, but also strangers in the community. Members can connect with different people and establish friendship with them.
☑ Connecting with my world – Members learn to care more about the community, both people and things. They also take action to help the others and spread the spirit in the society. |
How does the method give youth members a chance to take the lead? |
Members enjoy making friends and connect with people. They learn to build up relationship and lead a team. |
How can you connect this activity to the values of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting? |
Leaders discuss with members how they can integrate good works into Promise and Law. They understand that when they are doing good works, they are practicing the Promise and Law at the same time. This is the core value of Guiding Movement. |
